la stanza e la strada
Zoran Music and Norbert Möslang
27.08.-13.11.2022

Zoran Music (1909-2005) is an internationally well-known Slovenian-Italian painter. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and lived in Venice from 1945 until his death. He was repeatedly represented at the Venice Biennale as well as the Documenta 1955, 1959 and 1977 in Kassel. His quiet, lyrical work was exhibited in renowned museums.

In 1950 the sisters Charlotte and Nelly Dornacher commissioned Zoran Music to paint a banquet room in their private house in Zollikon with motifs of Venice. In connection with the renovation of the house this exceptional work was removed and elaborately restored. The Foundation Charlotte and Nelly Dornacher domiciled in Chur is now making a presentation of this remarkable work possible at the Art Museum Graubünden and allows it to be discovered in a contemporary context. The reconstruction of the room is conceived as a space within a space and combined with a sound installation by the sound-artist Norbert Möslang from St. Gallen who brings the sounds from the outdoor space into the Museum and thus gives the interplay between inside and outside additional dimensions. This unusual combination “La stanza e la strada. Zoran Music and Norbert Möslang” can be seen and heard in the Labor of the extension building.
