With the exhibition “Haussmann Studiolo” the architect and designer Trix Haussmann returns to Chur, where she was born in 1933, and where she spent her childhood and youth. She and her husband, Robert Haussmann, belong to the most important Swiss designers of the 20th century. They are well known for their furniture designs and numerous prominent renovations at home and abroad. Their architecturally and theoretically playful work has received renewed attention in recent years and has been paid tribute to in various places. Based on a critical reflection of Modernism, they have developed their own visual language and have established an independent position within the contemporary design discourse. In the concentrated format of a “Studiolo”, the exhibition at the Art Museum Graubünden aspires to introduce visitors to the planning and conceptual foundations of Trix and Robert Haussmann’s work, and thereby at the same time to make clear how visual arts influenced and shaped their work.
